I've just received one I bought on dBay, which seems to work OK (screen flicker) but the motorization is no good. Extends to horizontal on poweron, never goes vertical. Do I understand right that coucouillu believes the problem is the robotic EEPROM and not the mechanics, and that there's a way to strip out the mechanics and do a manual pull out and push in?

That would work for me ... I'm not so far gone that I can't pull up my own screen (grin).

Otherwise I gotta go fight with the seller, which I hate to do.

Can you post instructions for reprogramming the EEPROM then? I'm in negotiations with the seller. Have searched the forum ... no luck.

Has anyone tried and succeeded in removing the mechanics of the screen so that you can just attach a small handle and retract and withdraw it manually?

Any other ideas come to mind for those of us with a unit and no likelihood (or desire) of returning it? Money aside, it would be a nice mount if it would only slide in and out, manually or not.

You could see pics in lonks in my signaure below, if you need question on how to unscrew it, don't hesitate to ask me...But be sure that it is tha last way. Try to change your unit with the seller before...

Je vous remerci

I've studied the pictures, and have to admit that the procedure is too difficult for me to do reliably. But the closeups of the screen with attached mechanism and single ribbon connector suggest another way.

Does it look to you like removing the gears in the mechanism would free the screen to travel freely horizontally and vertically. That would make for a manual extend and replace screen that could work fine. Are those rivets or allen screws holding the mechanism?

Also, does the single brown ribbon cable between the screen and controller look like something that could be purchased in 1 meter length? Could remove screen entirely and operate as a separate unit.

Any chance of more pictures of the screen and mechanism?

In any event thanks! Now I know to dissasemble from the front!

No because it is not simple ribbon...The side of the ribbon you see on the pics is standard, but the other side (which is connected to the screen) is not standard.

Yes it could.

Need 12Volts and 5 Volts regulated power supply, need to unsolder the connection on the main board for the ribbon cable,
Make a new electronic board just for connection (Power supply, VGA in Video in,)

I will try to find pinout of the ribbon I made. Would be very helpfull.

Indash Lilliput

Well it seems that the overall opinion of this unit BAD, its a shame, I really wanted a unit with the features this one has, anyone have an idea if 06/06(Silver colored) models have these same problems? If not how about an alternative?! Something with the same features, price range? Thanks!

Hi again guys!

Has just followed this thread and not written anything. But today I have to write something. Is something wrong with this screen now? I connected my unit today, and i worked?! The motor for the screen sounded better than ever, it fliped the screen upp and down without any hacitating as it did before. I didn't have time to connect the speakers, because the will be connected to the amplifier anyway, so it seemed stupid to connect it to the speakers.

But one thing i noticed, even when I turned the ignition off, the lamps, RADIO MUTE LOUD and pwr and the other buttons remained blue?? Why? I connected the VCC to constant +. The red cable to ignition +. And one of the black cable to gound? Have I done any wrong when I wired it up?

Swap the red/yellow wires. That will fix it.
