TKDguy,
I have the same problem except on my screen if I give it a hard push upwards it will continue up on its own. I believe earlier in this thread I added a youtube video of this problem. The best answer I was able to find is that lilliput used cheap plastic gears that go bad quickly. If you replace them it should fix the problem.

Leosalles,
I have the same problem and have never been able to figure out how to fix that. If you send me your email address I can send you the user's manual.

coucouillu,
I would be happy to sell you my gl701

Does anyone know where to buy the new(4th) Generation lilliput GL701? (indash) and how to tell the new one and the old(problematic) ones apart?

replacement metal pinion gear for tilt

My tilt gear cracked a long time ago, and it took me forever to find a good solution to the problem. Here is the gear i bought to replace it with.

http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=HMXE8011&P=0

if that link is dead search for hmxe8011 its a 12 tooth pinion gear with a 2.3mm hole, to work with the displays it needs drilled out to 3mm. I trashed my first one trying to drill it by hand. the one i have working now i drilled out with a dremil drill press attachment and rotary chuck on it.

It doesn't have a 3mm hole, so i had to drill it out to 3mm, but its working now.

My display has been taken apart on my bench for about 6 months though, and i'm having trouble getting it to close now though. tilt and agles are working fine now though, i had cracked the junk plastic gear for tilt.

Wireless, thank you so much. The manufacturer is out of stock of the DWW 6500 and now I'm going back to plan A and trying to install my old Lilliput. How did you mount your lilliput and how many gears do you recommend (I'm assuming you only need 1 for the unit, but how many did you tear up before you got one that worked)? Thanks.

I bought 4 gears total, trashed the first one trying to hand drill it. used a dremel drill press on the 2nd and it is working great now.

Wanted - Remote Control

I got a second hand GL701 recently (before reading this thread of course!) and suprisingly it's working great!
Unfortunately I didn't get a remote control with it. I didn't think this was a problem until I realised that I wanted to hide all the buttons behind my dash, this means that the only way to get the screen to turn on and open up would be to have the remote control.

Would anybody out there be willing to sell me their remote from one of their broken units? There must be a few people out there who want to make a little money back from their broken units?

Send me a PM with an offer ASAP if you're interested, I live in Ireland so would be looking for shipping here.

Thanks very much,
S.h.
