Question for you guys.. I got a used LCD flat panel and controller, the controller has another output for VGA and it works fine. I've checked and there is power out of the inverter and it still didn't work. I slid the backlight tube out and it's broken, with burn marks at either end - so I don't think I broke it taking it out.

The question is, will I see absolutely nothing on the screen if only the backlight is shot? I don't know enough about these flat panels to know if I should be able to see at least a dim LCD output without the backlight.

you might barely, but almost everytime not.
