Double din mounted screen

So many people here end up mounting a Xenarc or Lilliput on a chassis for a double din install. Wouldn't it just be better if someone presold a Xenarc already with a blank boring, oversized faceplate mounted onto a double-din chassis?

People could then just sand down and finish the faceplate and plop a monitor in without as much fab work.

Yes, it would be better. You want to start producing such a bezel and purchase a bunch of Xenarc screens to sell with the custom bezel?
It sounds like a lot of work, time and money to invest, doesn't it? I can tell you that the return on such an investment would be minimal, and that's why nobody does it.
Maybe when the market grows beyond the hobby that it is today.

yes it would.
working on that right now.
going to mill out a faceplate to hold it.
don't particularly fancing the bondo way
but the DVD is going to be a bit tight....

Somebody selling blank faceplates would be a better idea....if anyone does put me down for a free couple

there is also a problem
alot of cars have factory radio that has faceplate that is contoured to the dash and very often much bigger than the standard double DIN. VW Golf for one does that. I was fortunate to find the faceplate at enfiqsports to convert that to a double din.

now i have to mill out a faceplate to fit the double DIN hole.

so it's not a one size fits all kind of scenario.

which golf are you on about?

i have a MKIV and they pretty much just have the double DIN
they are a bit more difficult to mount screens into cos there is no expanse of dash plastic to mount the screen enclosure into

Golf MKV

this converts the space where the factory radio is to a Double DIN slot.
