Post Where to buy seiko L4034

Where can I buy one of these units brand new? I have searched around but cannot find someone who sells this unit. I may consider buying a used one, but I just don't want to buy someone elses failed project. I would also be cool to buy one of these units pre wired so I could just hook up my paralell cable and go. Would someone be willing to purchase one of these units and wire it up, and then I would pay you for your time? Thanks for the help. I wasnt sure if I should post this here or in the sale section. I will move it if it should be in the sale section.

I just bought my 40x4 char lcd from Timeline, got her wired up and working beautifully. The backlight version of the one I got cost me $30 + $5 to ship, and I wired it according to the L4034 schematics by nathan stuart or whatever his name is. Per forum suggestion, I replaced the 10K pot with a 5K, and it helps significantly... and because I couldn't find a 50 ohm pot, I left the 100 in there, and that one works very nicely as it is. Perhaps a switch for the backlight is all I'm missing, but I mostly drive at night anyway. Oh well, let me know if you need something.

Yes, the one listed on the site is without a backlight, but I like having mine, and can see a lot of worth in it. I don't have any pics of mine up and running, but I do have my installation pics, converted to small jpegs just now from my digi cam. I'll have more pics up later, and perhaps descriptions of stuff as well.

Since this does not have a backlight, could I buy a el light type of backlight from http://www.microstru.com/EL-Lamps.html and use that as the backlight? That would be cool.

Thumbs down

I don't know anything about EL backlighting or anything that involves changing things on or inside the LCD itself. If you were mentioning that you wanted to pay someone else to wire this thing up for you, you prolly are saying that you are not good at wiring things yourself... you'd have to wire the EL and install it and such, but that's just my opinion. I like my LED backlight, very nice and bright, worth $10 of the extra $15 I paid.

I could probably do it, it just may take me a try or 2. Plus im just plain lazy! The EL light does not seem hard to do according to this site:
http://integrated.mp3car.com/lcd.html

Just a wire or 2 and some cutting and scraping.
