in-dash motorized screen
I am having trouble finding the right screen. I don't need a TV tuner or radio or amp, just a touch screen. It would be best if it came out farther than the new lilliput which doesn't fit b/c my stereo area is recessed. I was looking at the Xenarc from Xenarc Direct. I want the highest quality only. Any ideas?

Yes, are these really good quality? I was also just looking at the MP3car one for $549, looks pretty good.

thats probably what i'm going to get. I haven't heard any bad thoughts of it, so it means it has to be good. If it's not, we would have known by now
cheers

What about the Xenarc one though? I thought Xenarc was the highest quality, and considering it is the same price????

Xenarc is good, but it doesn't have a motor.

I'm looking for the same thing you are - no TV, no radio, no amp. I have other devices that will take care of those.

I guess the mp3car monitor is the way to go then?
Does anyone know how the picture quality will compare to Xenarc/Lilliput? I am particulary concerned with reflectiveness and brightness during the day.

[Edit] GOOD catch by the way! I def want motorized! Thanks.

I have the MP3Car one ($549). I have not tried it yet in sunlight (still in my house, while I get everything loaded on the computer, etc.), but the screen looks nice. One thing I have not gotten working (yet) is 800x480 resolution, however. I am using Linux, and I tried the via unichrome drivers (I have the Epia M10000), but the monitor would never sync to any of the dot clocks I used (screen would try a few times, but it would remain black ultimately, or it would revert to 640x480 or even a much higher res). I hope there's a solution eventually, even though 800x600 looks decent (wrong aspect, which bugs me a little). Using Fedora Core 4, I got the touch screen working by simply building the "evtouch" driver (no need to install the Egalax drivers, for which there is no FC4 version yet anyway).
I hope to have the unit mounted in my car sometime in the next week or so! I've got MP3s playing and wireless (USB) working, so things are looking good!

Lava-
Thank you for the info. I'm happy to hear that you have had a positive experiance with this monitor.
Can anyone confirm that they got it to work at 800x480, or speak for performance in daylight?
How would the mp3car model ($549) compare to the DWW-700M? (Also sold by mp3car.). I know the DWW-700M has a TV tuner which is a nice bonus, but how would the quality compare?

GreatestSale.com has monitors for dirt cheap prices!
I emailed them, and they said this model is the exact same one on this site.

It says it's made by AutoPC?? The one on this site is made by AutoPC? But yeah, that is a great price. Too bad they don't have the one without the TV tuner and radio.

I know, strange right?
He confirmed though that the specs are exactly the same. Maybe they just put their 'sticker' on it.
Your turn now, find the one w/o the TV tuner for cheap.

I think I'm going to get that one you found. It looks perfect. $400 is a great price.
