i have order one of these, but im in australia so it will take 2 weeks or so to get here, the only problem i see is it doesn't have the Cable from touch screen controller to PC, but i does give you the part number, also apparently it is only 12bit so dvd wont look great.
im hoping this screen will work with allen ruble's controller, allen if you read this can you post wheather or not you think this will work?
and for $50, im game to have a gamble on it.

kardas, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you don't need allan's controller board?

well over $200, that sucks, i bought one from the last round of sales from him and the reserve was only $174. but only one of the auctions went over the reserve. ther rest sold for the reserve price. and, yes it is only a 12 bit screen, but if your watching movies while you are driving your car, and expect high definition quality, you have some seriously high standards. not to mention the problem of watching a movie and driving.
oh, and he is waiting to ship the auctions from the last round until he gets the hirose cable ~ 1 1/2 weeks waiting time. kinda sucks, but then again, im not ready to use it yet anyway.
the entire kits look to be well worth the money for gps/mp3, but like everyone is saying, dvd will be only OK as for the lcd, touchscreen and backlight smaller kit, i think they sold for about $75 at the most.
good luck to the bidders!

Hello,
I was checking that guys auctions out and I think there is some confusion on this posting. That screen does come with the controller that will take the VGA out of your computer and make the screen work. It also comes with the inverter and the touch controller. So you can use the screen as is without any aditional things if you want.
To use the touch you need the serial interface cable that he mentions. The controller board he says you can get optionally is just a add on that gives you brightness/ color controls. I assume you could go without this part. He also says there is a schematic to make your own as it is probably just a simple resistor network.
Just thought I would try and clear up this post a bit. Thanks,

no it has a vga input, doesnt mean you can plug vga cable right into lcd, u still need a controller card to covert the vga to tft.
it comes with a controller card for the touchscreen not for the lcd (they are seperate)
im also waiting to hear from someone who gets theres, kardas, pigseye let us know caus im also getting a controller from allen

My stuff from EarthLCD should be in the mail. I'll let you know in a week or so. I'm actually using the built-in controller
on my SBC, so I only had to get a cable
and backlight inverter.

those links to the laptops above, on one fo the adverts says its a black & white screen.
i placed a bid on one of the $49 no reserve ones, (link in first post) which a few have, although no one has confirmed hopefully it will work with allens controller.
