seiko l3034 Problems

help I can't seem to get any text on my LCD. lcd print can see the LCD but will not send text to it I've double checked the wiring harness and there are no problems there I've even made a second harness all the pinouts checkout with a meter. I've used a box header on the LCD to eliminate any shorting of wires. The port is set to ECP. The only thing I've noticed is the contrast pot should be 100ohms and I've used a 1K but it sweeps from 0 to 933ohms so that shouln't matter to much should it??
Anyone got any ideas I've been at this problem for 3 days now and I have ideas left.
BTW I used the schematic from EIO's site.

I'm still hoping one of you guys has an idea, I've now searched the web,and the forum with no luck. (one other had a similar problem but with no replies.
If the printer port was knackered it wouldn't appear in device manager as working ....would it?? do I need a new m/b??
Come on guys one of you must have a view on the problem.

I would suggest connecting your printer cable to a printer. If it works, then at least you have one less concern. More than likely it is a software issue. Try copying your lcd software installation file to another location without any other files. Then in another folder save your modifications. Uninstall your LCD program. Then reinstall from your copied original installation file. See if that works before replacing your personalized mods. If it does, then install your personalized mods. If it doesn't work then - you know where your problem is.

Well I tried a printer and that works fine.. So now on to the software issue I am using a winamp plugin, VisLcd, though i have tried others and LCDPRINT is is the autoexec.bat so I removed both then put them back and still no differance.
am i missing something
Anyone????
