Post onboard tv out sucks!

These onboard TV OUT sucks ... mine just died on my MSI-6215...and guess what. It's the SECOND ONE. I'm gonna have to send this one in too and say it's deffective. I wonder how many times they will let me do this lol.

It works fine from home..just when I put in the car it just "breaks". I have a feeling it's some kind of voltage potential accross the video cable from the LCD to the carputer since I was powering the LCD through the cigarrete lighter adapter( different ground point). Should I run the power for the LCD from the computer power supply instead??? I'm really confused as to what's causing my tv out to mess up.

I have already grounded the computer case I will add another ground to inverter heatsink as well... i don't wanna mess up another bookPC. THey might not replace it next time around hehe

I just spent the last 30 min drawing my current system wiring on paintbrush.. Can anyone point out what else I should modify / add??

I would recommend using the 12 from bookpc, mainly because the power from your battery isnt "clean", it has spikes, going above and below 12 volts.

Typically when you start your car the voltage goes fairly low, and you may get spikes up to 17-18 volts when running.

there has been several post earliere that has better and more exact info on this.

There may be one problem though, can the powersupply make the required amount of amps on the 12 volt line ?

You're lucky yours still works at home. Try powering the LCD off the 12v from the computer PS and see if that fixes it. If so you can save yourself some trouble.

The tv-out on my bookpc is completely dead, even at the bench. Waiting for my MSI-6215 to arrive.

What's the ohm resistance on your tv-out port?

In the past when I've seen some tv-cards (not onboard) go bad, their resistance changed.

Mine is still 75.0 on the dot, though, which is what I believe it's supposed to be.

Cool

always get your power from the PSU, simply because it is clean and regulated.
