Post Ribbon cable enough to power lcd?

i was just wondering...is ribbon cable high enough gauge to power your basic led backlit 20x2 lcd?

also...would this work?

say hypotheically (sp?) that one conductor of a ribbon cable alone was not enough to supply the needed current from a larger source. would it work if i were to attach more than one of the conductors to the power source and then make them meet at the other end? am i making sense? heh probably not...its 1:20 am....*yawn*...any help is appreciated.

It will depend on the cable length. One should be enough even for fairly long runs as the display doesnt draw much current making the voltage drop negligable. Try it with one and if it doesnt work join a few together at both ends like you said.

I have about a foot of ribbon cable taking power and data from the control circuit (resistors etc) to the 40x4 backlit...I have a regular parallel cable covering the other 6 feet, and a regular keyboard cable for the 5v power.

I doubt if the keyboard cord is much bigger wire than the ribbon cable.

it works
my 8.4 tft pannel and inverter are connected to the ribbon cable to the control card. And the cable is about 2 ft long.
