7" lilliput touch problem, or is it just me ?

ok guys i just got my brand new 7" lilliput touchscreen (its the newer model).

anyway ... i turned it on, and i was scratching my head going .. wtf ? It worked, and the picture from the computer showed, however it appeared to be very pixelated. I think its the touchscreen overlays fault ?

It's like as if you know when you buy a new phone, and the have that protector sheet on the screen. have you ever taken off the protector sheet and tried putting it back on ? your image goes very pixelated and blurry and you just have rainbow pixels all over the screen ? Thats what it was like straight out of the box.

i'm not sure if the monitors supposed to be like this or theres another sheet i'm supposed to remove on the monitor or something ?

btw on the monitor itself when i touch it with my fingernail, its not the typical lcd monitor smooth feel, it's sort of grainy like a matt protector sheet is over it ?

whats going on ? I hope all lilliputs arent like this My brother has the older 7" model and his one looks fantasic, theres no grainy matt feel when u touch the screen and the supposedly screen protector on the screen which i dont even know exists to take off isnt even there

Any ideas guys ?

The grainy material, as you put it, serves two perposes. It is the TS resistive membrane, you remove that no more TS. It's my belief that the grainy surface is ment to defuse the light that reflects off it's surface, reducing glare.

ok but the picture looks absolutely horrible ? why doesnt it look anything like my bros older 7" lilliput ts ?

It has to be because of that grainy overlay. Somethings up, if the picture was this pixelated and grainy i'm sure you all would not be buying this screen =/

What resolution is your display set at? 800x480 will look the best, i'm 800x600 which looks good to me. Anything higher than 800x600 the text will be harder to read.

its not anything to do with resolution or refresh rate ... its the fact that the whole screen is just pixelated with rainbow colours over the actual image.

referring back to taking a screen protector off and putting it back on, kind of like that... i might have to return it. Gah @ postage

anyone have any other ideas ?

even when nothings connected to the monitor, and i put in the power source, where it says "Vga mode" or whatever, even that is in that grainy pixelated type, so it has to be the screen, i just hope that if i get a replacement its not going to be the same.

May sound obvious but have you tried wiggling the video cable a bit, the quality on mine is not great but if I move the cable about it comes and goes so there is obviously a bad connection there somewhere, could be something similar?

i just got a reply from the seller. it seems that the lilliput worker forgot to remove the protective layer on the actual touchscreen before they installed it on the lilliput monitor, hence why its blurry and pixelated.

i'm sending it back and i think they are shipping me a new one.
