hey, i am really new to this and i want to know what type of screen to get. i will in time be running a 800mhz, 160mb ram, 32mb 128bit graphics card w/tv out. Will the tft screen plug straight into this?? also i have been told the voltage and ampage is different from ntsc to pal, is this true, and if so is there a way aroung it? also if anyone is interested in selling a screen please email me with the details of it.

thanks Kardas.

Ok... if I understand correctly you have raised 2 issues here.

1) the video format.
If your graphics card w/tv out supports both PAL & NTSC then you just have to set it to the format that matches the screen you buy.

2) the voltage to power it from.
Mains voltage is different in Aussie to U.S so if you buy from U.S, the shipped ac-dc power supply won't be of any use to you. You can replace it with a supply from a Dick Smith store if you wanna power it from the mains for any reason.

But as you will be powering the screen from the cars 12volt system you won't need one for in-car use.

So check to find out if your cards tv-out supports NTSC, and if it does you will be able to get a cheaper NTSC screen.

To check:
Go to control panel -> display -> Settings-> advanced. Now look at the tabs, one of them will have the controls for the TV out. And if ur video card does support PAL and NTSC then it will give you an option to set one.

Usually most Video cards support PAL and NTSC

If you could get PAL LCD screen you will get slightly better quality.

Dont have your hopes high...
There arnt any in Australia that you could pick up for reasonable price.
The ones you can get are the 5" Clarion and Pioneer that cost you something like AU$700 -$800.
The cheapest way to get it is from States. Only thing is that you pay min of US$20 for shipping.
