Lilliput Problem
All,
Newbie here, searched with no luck on this problem.
I recieved my 629 lilliput, and to test it out I wanted to hook it up to my laptop. The monitor works, but for some reason after installing the software, The touchscreen wont work. Under USB controllers it is there (control panel), but not under mice in the CP. Is the problem that my tochpad is the default, and it wont accept the USB touchscreen as the "mouse"?
It doesnt even show up under mice in the CP, Nor does it show up in the touchkit as being there.
Thanks for the help all!
Tightan

Where might I find the older drivers?
Thanks for the quick response; Wouldnt the newest drivers be the best? Can I disable the touchpad, and just hope that the lilliput is accepted? I wont be able to re-enable the touchpad if it doesn't work!
Thanks!

Hey Tightan7369
I read the thread to on the lilliput in-dash touchscreen 7" (all 57 pages of it!) and I believe I remember reading that you have to hook up the USB cable as well. I think that's why the USB controllers is showing up in Control Panel. I might be wrong, but I think I'm remembering right! Besides, what harm would it do and it will only take a second?!?
Let us know if this works!

Thanks for the response!
I DO have the USB hooked up; under DEVICE MANAGER it does say USB TOUCHSCREEN CONTROLLER; just no option in DM as the touchscreen for the "MOUSE" (Mice and other pointing devices).
Its on a laptop to test it out, with the touchpad enabled (only mouse). I think thats the problem, but I cant disable the TP because I wont have a moise if the touchscreen doesn't work!
Thanks !

Tightan,
I don't own a Lilliput Touch Screen, but like I said, I read all 57 pages on the 7" thread! I found the Lilliput site for the drivers and manual (if you need them) and started to download the manual for the Touch Kit, but found I already had!
I assume you are using Windows XP. The manual says DON'T plug in the USB cable before you run the software. Did you? Later, it says to unplug it and then plug it in again so Windows Hardware Wizard will find it and install the proper driver for the USB Touchkit. Did you do that? Did the New Hardware Wizard find it? When you first installed the software, on the Welcome to the Touchkit Setup screen it says "Check the check box if PS/2 touch controller is to be installed. The default setting is unchecked." Did you check this box? It sounds like they are telling you it SHOULDN'T be check, when I think it really should! Because later it says "After finish the installation, if PS/2 touch controller is installed, it needs to reboot the computer." Check your device Manager again. Does it look like this?
If anything is missing, I would first try unplugging and replugging the USB cable. See if that works. If not, then try reinstalling the software, CHECKING the PS/2 touch controller box. If that doesn't fix it, uninstall everything, delete what does show up in DM and start all over again.
I know you've probably been working at this awhile and are frustrated, but hopefully we can figure this out! Like I said, I may not have a Lilliput, but I am kinda good with a computer. IMHO. (Just can't type worth a damn!)
Let us know!

Let me add, that when i plug in the USB to my computer, it does not recognized that anything is being plugged in. Usually when i plug something in the computer, the computer detects it and asks to install the new hardware found. But when i plug in the lillipu USB, it doesn't recognizes it at all....
1: is my cable messed up?
2: is the whole lilliput unit messed up?

Actually i had the same damn problem and its the way the instructions are written that screw everything up. Its the way you put the cable in......the part of the cable with the usb/vga end actually goes into the computer!!!! The other end which is just the vga connector goes into the touchscreen. This cleared me up in seconds and once you pop in the usb cable, the comp recognizes it as a touch screen device immediatly! Remember first to install the LATEST 4.0 drivers first! restart and pop in the usb cable. I cant believe it but thats the problem the whole time.

Hope it solves your problems!

No such luck.....
Thanks for working with me on this!
I did the install, I will try to uninstall, then do the plug - unplug- plug deal. Also, my install didn't give me the option to check a box. My manual says the same thing as you stated above, but it never gave me the option!

Sorry this didn't help, at least not so far!
Since I don't have a Lilliput, it's kind of tough for me to diagnose the problem without being able to create it and see how to fix it myself. Kind of like my mom calling and tell me that her NetZero account won't work. "Mom, I don't have Netzero!" Maybe you could send me your screen and I can play around with it on my laptop! Then I could see if I have the same problem and if I really want to buy one of their products! (Just Kidding and Not Likely!)
I'm surprised that with all of the "experts" here, no one else has responded. I guess everyone else's install went just fine or maybe they weren't using a laptop! I'd kind of like to know the answer myself, since I have a laptop that I picked up for cheap and would like to use for my install! Better to run cables rather than to hack and gut my dash!
Here's the link to Lilliput's Download Page for you and anyone else that might want it:
http://www.lilliput.com.cn/eng/service.asp It has the drivers and the manual for the TouchKit. Maybe installing this driver will fix it.
You never did say if your Device Manager show the PS/2 TouchScreen or TouchKit TouchController. If they aren't there, I would say that is what the problem is. Maybe using the "Add New Hardware" Wizard would fix that. I don't know for sure, just tossing out some ideas!
If you do figure this out, PLEASE finish this thread and tell us what you did to fix it! I'm kind of tired of someone giving their suggestions and the poster never replies back. I would assume that the problem was fixed, but the poster just moved on and never did tell everyone exactly WHAT it was that they did to fix it!
Hope you get this fixed and let us know when (and IF) you do!

well I got the drivers installed, and it seemed to solve the touchscreen problem, well sorda.
it installed as a universal driver, so i "updated" it so that it was the touch kit.
I rebooted, and it suddenly wouldn't appear; however, i think it is linked to my next problem
I assume that this is a hardware issue, either the monitor or the laptop.
for some reason, after connecting the lilliput to the vga card via the cable, it goes into what seems to be a stanby mode. I am making the assumption that this is a video card problem because it only happens once connected.
1. Is there something I have to do in the bios/xp to tell my laptop to recognize a monitor connected externally, so it sends the signal to the vga port? I have hooked it up, rebooted, and still no cake.
? This is getting frustrating; so much for testing it out (playing with it) before I get my carpc built, because I will be ordering the peices for that soon enough!'
ERRRRRR
Thanks for your help sir.

Without knowing what laptop you have, I can't tell you for sure what to do. On mine I have a Function key + other key to choose LCD, external display or both. As for the TS driver try this if you haven't already fixed it.
1 Unplug usb cable for TS.
2 Uninstall TS software and reboot computer.
3 Download newest TS software, sounds like you it. http://www.egalax.com.tw/support-drivers.htm
4 Install TS software
5 Do NOT check the box "Install PS/2 interface driver".
6 Plug in the TS USB cable and windows will install the drivers.
7 Enjoy.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Thanks for the response;
It is a cheapy, about 2 years hold Compaq 2100US.
Its kinda weird. The picture will show up for just a few seconds, then go away and the screen seems to be in "stanby"
Thanks for your help; I will try that keystroke and see if it does any good.
