Sun visor mounted LCD screen for computer
Hello everyone,
I have a Pioneer Avic N2 and a Mac Mini under the passenger seat (powered by a 350 watt power inverter). The Mac Mini has a DVI to composite adapter and is connected to the avic input. The problem is that the screen is considerably blurry and the text is barely readable. I can adjust the resolution to make it a little better but it's still not quite useable. I would like to get 2 LCD monitors for my sun visors but I can't seem to find any that are thin enough to be put into the visors themselves that are VGA (as I figure that would make the screen clear as a bell). I know there are the Lilliput and Xenarc VGA screens (7 and 8 inches) but those appear to be too large to be used in sun visors. I don't want to replace the Avic N2 and would just like to find LCD screens that will be clear yet small enough to be used in the sun visors. I wouldn't need the screen to be touchscreen either as I am using a 4-port USB cable which allows me to connect my thumb mouse and mini keyboard. I would really appreciate any help on this. Thank you!

Thank you
Thanks so much for that information! I'll pass it along to my installer. Hopefully he can put them in without a problem. The visors themselves appear to be quite thin (for a 2006 Mustang) and I noticed the Lilliput is 9mm thick so I'll be crossing my fingers!
Thanks again and I really appreciate your help!

forget that just take the VGA screens to a good stereo shop they will have new upholstery made and fill around the screens so it looks factroy those sun visor things look like crap and fit like it to every single one I have ever installed I took out everybody loves them till there installed when they see for them self it looks like crap and fits like crap out they come it will cost you about $300 to have new upholstery made for your sun visors and install the screens in them but it is worth it

Port20, thanks for your opinions, but for the love of all that's good and right in this world, USE PUNCTUATION! Ok, I feel better now.
Anyway, after finally deciphering what you had said, I completely agree with having it professionally stitched/upholstered.

not to **** anyone off, but if you have a avic n2, why do you need a mac? seems like kind of a waste of money for all that, an avic is in the neighborhood of 2 grand, does most everything you could want, ad an ipod or something like that.. most of us who have built carputers spend less than 7-800, and can achive far more than your avic. what exactly are you trying to achive with 3 screens up front? just going for the pimp factor?
I apologize if I have offended anyone, just hate to see someone waste all their money on stuff when they can do so much more, for so much less.

your just letting the $$$$$ control your thoughts here..... the ultimate system is a hybrid with a multimedia head AND a pc............ until a mm head can browse the web & add functionality as easy as installing a program there will always be a need for both........ most carpcs are built with the intention of simulating the mm head in the first place, but if you have the money & space a hybrid is the best of both worlds........

I've put the xenarc 7" into a PT cruiser visor. The stock visor needed to be cut off just below the mechanism and I built a whole new fiberglass one, incorporating a 700 series headrest shroud. The new visor is almost 2" bigger in every dimension, but I wated a clip-in clip-out screen for servicability reasons. I had it upholstered in the factory fabric, but they had a hard time with it since it doesn't flip open anymore. End product looks great.
