Ok I was wondering if anyone could help me with this because I've tried getting help from an electronics store (Fry's Electronics) and they told me it can't be done but I don't believe them. All I want to do is extend this ribbon cable that connects my lcd screen and the push buttons about 3 inches. How can I do this? Or what can I use as a substitute for the ribbon cable? Please let me know what you would do. Thanks.

Does the ribbon has "SumiCard" on it anywhere? Can you give the width of the conductors? You should be able to see the conductor through the white poly material. So far, I have seen these ribbon cables in two "gauges" that are commonly used. I KNOW there are others.
I have ordered replacement ribbons from Digi-Key. If you can tell me the width of the conductors I can look it up and see what the lengths available are.
