Exclamation Burnt cap on Lilliput 7"

The other day while driving the screen just shut off, but the touchscreen still functioned, then I started to smell burning. Took it all apart once I got home and found the relatively obvious problem (below the red arrow).

Anybody know the specs on this part (I assume it's a capacitor?), or ANYTHING that will help me to replace it?

Help is very much appreciated!!

are the specs not listed any where on the part? possibly solder if off the board and check the underside too.

I'm not sure what that is but I don't think its a capacitor.

I will try soldering it off but I can see a little under it and I don't think there is any writing...

I put together this pic about other markings on the board and the components - half the reason I thought it was a capacitor was because of the 'c' in front of the number, but if anyone knows what the 'c104' item is, it might help figure this out.

After speaking with someone at work who knows more than I about electronics, I've been told this is part of the backlight circuit. I know there are some posts on here about upgrading the backlights and have read through them, but they don't mention anything about the circuit yet.

Any help from the backlight folks would be super appreciated.

you probably can't replace the part. you can replace the whole inverter.

Of course you can replace it!!

Its a capactor. Looks like a polyester.
Its hard to tell from the pic but it seems to be on the low voltage switching side of the inverter.
one question is why did it go short? It could be a simple component failure (heat, voltage...induced)
The trick will be to find the right value/voltage. If someone with one which has not had the markings burnt could post the text it may help.

It looks to me from the picture and the numbers that it's an inductive capacitor. 2L 02 is found on many similar components but without knowing for sure what the rest of the H1?? is you are going to have a hard time finding it. Maybe someone who has a broken Lilli can look on theirs for you.
Hoss is right; you need to find out why it burnt. My plan of attack would be find the part at a supplier (you can submit inquiries at tons of places on the net- Google it “electronic components”), order at least 2 (they will be cheap if there is no minimum order), replace it and see if the component simply fizzled on its own. If not, you will have the other to put in when you find the actual cause.

Thumbs up

This is an update for anyone who comes across this thread while searching for a similar problem.

I ended up purchasing a broken lilliput board from xdjxklusivex and attempting to replace the faulty capacitor. As it turns out, the old one had the specs for the capacitor right on it, it was a 68000 picofarad 125 VAC cap. Looking at the circuit (and I'm glad I did) the capacitors were installed backwards on the older boards, so following the leads to the inverter (big thing to the left of the cap) to determine polarity is important.

After doing this and still no luck I had almost lost hope - but then came across digital ww's site and saw them selling 1.5Amp fuses for the board. Tested mine for resistance, found infinity- tested the other board I bought and sure enough the fuse was fine. Soldered it on, and it lit right up - worked perfectly!

The fuse in question is located here:

Anyway, hope this helps anyone else in similar circumstances.

Please Help!!!

I just got my Lilliput (619GL) today and tonight i decided I wanted to try it and hooked it up to my PC, immediately upon turning it on it made this loud buzzing sound coming from the back of the panel, sounds like the inverter and the picture flickers with different levels of brightness, the flicker freq is fast probably 60hz. otherwise it seems to work, I wonder if the cap is backwards like I just read above. Any help or sugestions is GREATLLY appreciated.
THANKS!
