lilliput 619 is reflective, 629 has antiglare?
I met john94587 today in person. He wanted to see if his lilliput 629 was blurry because it is or because it's busted. He has a 629 I have a 619. His 629 appears to have some sort of anti-glar thing. I'm not sure if it's the touch film itself or something on top of it, but where my 619 is a mirror, his is diffuse. The overall effect is that my 619 is sharper and brighter. But, it's a mirror. I can clearly make out details of reflection in it. On his 629, wide viewing angles work much better, it's darker and a bit softer, but does a pretty good job of not being so reflective. When showing bright white, you can clearly see a sort of fuzzy rainbow haze on his 629.
Is this another 619 vs. 629 difference? I haven't seen it mentioned. I'd really like to live with both the glare and anti-glare for a week and see which one I like. Anyone know what's up?

I'm certainly not the expert, but it almost sounds like a difference in the touchkit. The 629 appears to be using a new touchpanel that isn't so mirror-like

That's the impression I was left with. I just had not seen it talked about yet, and was wondering whether it was a difference between the two or maybe "old" vs. "new" units. I always though the 619 had a flat face and the 629 had curved. This 629 wasn't curved at all. Just anti-glare. john94587 bought it off eBay, I wonder if it's a fake?

I've got the 629, and while I havn't spent much time looking at 619's, I would not come close to claiming the surface of mine was "mirror-like". It definitely has that hazy anti-glare appearance to it. I bought mine from the mp3car.com/store in July of this year (some counter-counterfeit evidence).

Surprising I search on this site and there's no discussion of this either. Kbyrd was mentioning of my screen. I tested everything and it seems it's a Lilliput. I'm going to take some pictures of my screen and kbyrd can take pictures of his screen and we can compare.
Hey kbyrd maybe we can trade for a week or two just to test when my screen is fit in the bezel. LoL.

You said "lol", but I would totally go for that. Of course, we have to wait for me to get another power supply.

I have the same issue with my 629. I have more problems viewing mine during the day than my friend with the 619. Are the screens interchangable?
I also have an odd problem that my screen will not dim in centrafuse on my car pc or home pc. My friends 619 does.

Looks like lilliput's site has different specs for them:
619:
Brightness: 400cd/m2
629:
Brightness: 350cd/m2
Consistent with your observations. Found this at gdsun.com

I haven't updated this in a while. But here's the deal. According to Armen at digitalww.com, you can get 619's with the anti-glare screen as well. It's just the touchpanel. I bought a matte replacement from him and put it on my 619, works great.

does the anti-glare touch panel have tiny dots in a grid pattern, if u look at it closely?
I have the latest 619 revision which is black, and the touchpanel, power "egg" and even the VGA connector cable are different.

Yes it does, it almost looks like there is a layer over the touch panel that you can peel off. I ordered a 619 from digitallww over a year ago that had the anti-glare panel but my latest 619 from mp3car has the mirror like touch panel, its really annoying to look at in direct sunlight.

o ok, yeah the black 619 has the antiglare.
However, the display is not as sharp as the old one ... it seems to be a BIT hazy ... hard to explain, but u can tell there's something over the display.
at least teh screen functions alot better than my older revision ones (i've had 3 older revisions before this).

Yea, it's a bit hazy, someone described it as 'rainbox speckles'. I didn't notice it, it had to be pointed out to me. If you're in the bay area, you can come see it. I tried to take pictures (in my worklog) but they don't show the difference very well.
