Inside of a Xenarc 700IDT

Well, in the quest for buying expensive things and then tearing them apart, this should be a treat.

I have 2 reasons for taking mine apart: it's dimensionally too wide, so I thought I could just remove a non-value-added metal cover, and see what the possibility of adding a DVD drive would be. So I'm really only taking 1/2 of this apart as I didn't touch the LCD part at all. But I figure this still might be helpful.

Note 1: There are 3 screws in the top back, 3 screws on one side, and 5 screws on the other side. On that last side with 5 screws, the top 2 are not holing the case on. They are holding a metal catch that keeps the LCD from springing out. Don't bother taking those screws out.
Note 2: Before doing any work, unspring (open) the LCD so it's in a relaxed position. Otherwise you'll get a nasty surprise when you take a screw out & all of a sudden it pops open at full speed.
