Searching for, a VERY small touchscreen+vga 16x12cm (WxH)

Hi folks...

I am building a CarPC Project in my car, but i have one really big issue, i cant find a Touchscreen+vga thats small enough... I have been searching the web for over 2 months, belive it or not.. but its impossible to find a monitor at that exact size... 16wx12h.. debth donsnt matter...

But!, it can be a OEM screen, and that makes me think... Does anyone in here know some size of the frame screens, at OEM size ?

For making a point.. i cant have a 'in-dash monitor', and cant find another place at the car for the monitor, so it have to fit my build in slot.. Remember, need touch+vga... OEM or with frame.. dosnt matter.. just have to fit hehe..

i have added 2 pictures, so you better can understand my problem...

plz ppl, make my day, and save my life... i have searching all over the web, and have put over 10.000$ in this car, and only need to finish my carpc project, and its finish and ready to the showscenes

Best Regards, Tommy Christiansen...

I have used one that is almost as small as you need

Outer dimensions 7.04" x 4.99" (17.88cm x 12.67cm)

You can find it http://store.earthlcd.com/s.nl/sc.7/...it.A/id.720/.f

Thats about as small as I've ever seen in a usable touch screen. There are many more on that site that you can look at as well, in case this one is still too big

Why don't you make a new panel and relocate the heater controls to the bottom of your dash, and put a nice, and cheaper, 7" VGA right under the radio.
It really isn't that hard to do, and I think it would look better, and would give better visibility.

Just a thought...

Many 7" monitors without the housing can fit in those dimensions. The Promate 7" (see the thread on "au optronics") is 165 x 104 mm. You may need to make small notches for the bottom corners into your dash piece, but the active screen width is 152.4 so you won't lose any image.

If this is an option, I would definately go this route. I'm assuming it's not as that would have been the obvious answer especially after not finding screens for 2 months that would fit. The location in front of the gear shift is going to be a pain to use. If you will only be using it at shows, it's one thing, but even at shows the shifter gets in the way of viewing the screen which won't look good.
