Do you have to use the acc wire?

I bought a in-dash LCD.. It comes with 4 wires. + and acc and 2 negative wires. What I want to know is there a way to skip the acc wire and make the thing fire up just using the + and - when it hits 12 volts?

Any help appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the ACC wire is to turn on the screen when the car is started.
How to bypass it? I don't know.

Yeah my old screen didn't have this problem. It works I guess on the same principle as amplifiers do that the acc turns the unit on and off.. I just wanted to know if there's a way around it.

Most people want their screen to come on when they start the car....
Frankly, I don't see how this is a 'problem'. You could certainly consider this an obstacle that you need to overcome for your specific needs, sure... But it's hardly a problem. I'd consider the auto-on more of a feature.

God damn, I'm soundling like Microsoft now!

It works exactly like a head unit.

+ is permanent live
Acc is triger wire

If you want the screen to come on all you need to do is wire the acc wire to a switch (usually the ignition switch)

If you want it all to fire up at once, but be completly dead the rest of the time wire the + and acc lead together.

The only drawback from this is its possible it will "forget" any memory settings when you kill the power.

I guess what you are saying is that the +12v wire you have now already turns on and off with the car key. In that case, just hook up both the 12volt and acc wire from the LCD to that wire.

It won't remember any settings from one use to another.

splice the acc wire from the back of your head unit and run the acc wire from the LCD screen to it. When the head unit turns on so will the screen.

yeah i think that may be the best way. to use the one off the head unit. when the guy who did my HU install installed the wires he did it pretty tight so getting to the HU wires may proove to be rather difficult. Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
