yes, the fuse blew because of a crooked cable. If this fixes the problem then it's just a simple matter of getting a replacement fuse and soldering it into place. Doesnt hurt to jump it just to test.

does that sound like a good idea to you?
I meausured a working one too and it is 0 ohms.
The only way these things blow is by someone that doesn't know what there doing messes around with the ribbon cable and crosses some lines. So yes it is a precaution that is a good idea but i am going to leave mine how it is.
Shoot its working and i have no screen flicker. I am not taking it apart again.
IT WORKS.

jsut followed a link to this thread. that thing does indeed look like a fuse. The old xenarc also seems to have input fuses like that on the VGA and RCA inputs. Are they black/dark green colour?

I don't have a Lilliput, nor have I seen the part in question, but if it is a resistor, YOU CANNOT MEASURE RESISTANCE WHILE A RESISTOR IS IN A CIRCUIT! It will simply not give you the correct reading. There is no real way to accurately measure it. When you measure the resistance while the part is still in the circuit, you measure the resistance of the ENTIRE circuit, not just the resistance of that part!
Now, if someone has a functioning one, it should not be hard to ID the part in question. Need a damn good pic though!

jcdillin knows that....
...but....
the item in question goes to a pin on the ribbon cable so it is not in a circuit. it is on the end of it!

hence why I removed the part to test, just to be sure.

if you dont have anyone who can do it myself former navy nuclear electronics tech or my neighbor can he solders every day for the marines former nuke et as well.
let me know
just pay shipping and if anything i can call lilliput and put on some nice charm saign my company wants to order a ton and get schematics for it and do resistance calculations and maybe come up with a good circuit for it

My Innovatek 8" screen went white - But I know why. I connected the input power backwards (pluged wired with negative on center). It worked fine before this. Have it apart now and looking. But I had a Mini-itx powersupply go bad and it had one of those resistor like looking things but with a magnifying glass it said 10 on it. It was a fuse so I soldered a fuse across that and it fixed it. Could be similar here as it popped the circuit breaker feeding the 12 volts to the LCD unit. I was installing it in my airplane at the time. When I took it back to my truck and got the white display, it dawned on me that I wired the airplane cable connector backwards. Should have put the shield to + and the center wire to GND. Now I am in trouble.
Thanks for any help you may give me. Hal
I done some more trouble shooting and traced the 12 volts to a fuse - small glass fuse with a lead on each end soldered to the board. I will assume that it is about 1 amp or so. Anyway, hopefully this will fix my problem. Too late tonight to try jumping the fuse as I am tired and want to go to bed with HOPE that this is indeed the only problem. Will try it tomorrow.
Tomorrow:
I jumpered by the fuse with a meter and in the process measured the current. The LCD functioned properly now - no white screen. And the current measured 0.25 amps so will check Radio Shack for a 1/2 amp fuse. Problem solved. Lucky on this one

on a similar note, old motherboards (AT Style) used a very small resistor for a fuse right near the keyboard connector. If the keyboard didnt work I'd jump that and wala.. new again. so you may be on the right track. good work

i am thinking about going this route with my lilliput. i have been working heavily on my install the past few weeks, finally finished fabbing, and my box is pretty much setup. went to put the lcd in, and all i keep getting is the white screen. all that build up for nothing! keep on trying with the ribbon cable, and i cant get it to work. unless my ribbon cable is somehow broken, but i wouldn't know how to tell.
i have some experience soldering but not a lot with small circuit boards. is it simply soldering a small wire from one side of the resistor, or whatever it is, to the other?
and for anyone else who has gone this route, has it worked in the long run?
