Tester Needed! Lilliput White Screen of Death
Hey Everyone,
I know here and there some people here have had the problem on the lilliput where you get the white screen of death because the controller on the back of the LCD panel goes bad. Well I think I might have found the part that causes it. But the problem is I don't have any to test right now. So I need someone that has a LCD panel with that problem and can solder. I need them to try soldering a small jumper to see if that fixes the problem.
Here is the part that needs to be jumped

I would not recommend jumping that circuit. There was a resistor there, and it appears to be fried. By placing a jumper wire there, you may actually change the resistance in that line, and could create more problems. Of course, it could also work too. Who knows, but I doubt you will correct the problem by using a wire to bypass the original resistor.
Just my 2.6 cents worth.

Oh I understand, but the way I see it is that the LCD is roasted already. So why not try.
When I measured the resistance of that part in mine it reads as 0ohms. So i'm not exactly sure that it's a resistor.

Holy crap.... I think it worked... here is the deal
I had some lilliput spare parts one of which was the controller like pictured in the first post. This one consistantly gave a white screen of death. The good thing about this controler was the little clip that held the ribbon cable was fully funtional
Now i have another lilliput that is know to work except the afformentioned part had a broken clip which is less than ideal for a sunvisor screen. Every time i would pull the sun visor down the image would flicker until it got way to untable to even use.
So my solution was to switch controllers... I switched and i got a white screen of death no matter what i did or how i positioned the ribbon cable. Then took the working on with the broken clip and measured the resistance between the point in question and it was 0 so i felt okay about jumping that componant on the broken one. As soon as i did boom.... it worked
JCD YOU ROCK!!!

Well I did and I got 0 Ohms, so it seems to be either a fuse or a jumper

So if it's a fuse, and you are jumping it, and the unit didn't work because the fuse blew. . . . . . .
does that sound like a good idea to you?
