indash monitors

i was curious to discuss with someone how well their "indash" monitors installed. i bought and quickly sold the xenarc 7000idt becuase while it claims to be indash, the mounting was less than desireable.

i have seen a couple new ones... but dont know how well they work. im looking for a way to mount a indash/touchscreen/vga monitor like the aftermarket alpines/sonys/etc. they can acutally mount using screws through the factory brackets (toyota) in my case. i want to say they call it ISA standard.. but im not sure.

the monitor i saw here... http://www.cappuccinopc.com/parts/mr-k301-07idts.asp looks like it may have this ability... but i dont want to spend more $$ just to find out im going to have to hack through my dash to do the install. i lost 200 bucks by trying the xenarc IDT.

i have a toyota tundra with a double din opening. i have removed the facotry double din unit... and have a alpine head unit in the top and a pocket in the bottom. im still using the factory radio mounts for the alpine. at this point i dont care if its motorized or not.

id love to be able to mount the "indash" monitor below the alipine.

anybody done this?? do you have pics of the install... either before during or after??

Tundra

I think if you move the Alpine to the buttom, then you can fit the IDT on top, did you try that?

If you put the screen on top and your HU in the bottom DIN it should work out. After looking at your link I am pretty sure it will mount fine in your top DIN with just the factory mounts.
Post any more links you find as I am in the same boat as you. I am shopping for single DIN VGA touchscreen to go into my Landcruiser. Like you, I don't care if it is motorized or not.

I found some no-name brand ones on ebay but they were going for ~$350. At that price for a no-name I would rather spend a bit more to get one from the mp3car store since I assume they are more tried/tested.

In Stock

Since I can't find any others in stock, I was thinking of buying this one...

It will reside on top DIN of my Tundra, what do you think?

Thanks,
jerry

Yeah, thats my fall back unit also. I have no idea how good it is though. I am not done shopping around for something cheaper or maybe a better fit for my use but I may end up getting that in the end.
