Tapping radio harness for LCD 12V, need diode?

I will be tapping into my radios wire hardness for power, gnd, and ign for my LCD.

Do i need to put a diode in to protect anything, either the lcd or radio? And if so what kind of diode? And i've never dealt with a diode outside of a PCB or breadboard, so how do you connect such, is there a diode holder just like there is a fuse holder thats a serious question

thanks

No, you just need to connect the wires, nothing to it. Diodes in the car install environment are usually only used for alarms, to keep circuits isolated from one another (i.e. door trigger circuits, etc.). It wouldn't hurt anything if you did use diodes, but I can't think of any reason why your application would need them. I have never seen a diode holder, I have always soldered them in place. Hope this helps.
