touchscreen pressure problem

I was driving around today, and my touch screen started acting up. It wouldn't respond to touching unless I pushed my finger very hard on the screen. I shut everything down and rebooted and it kept doing the same thing. I mean i have to push pretty damn hard in one spot to move the mouse. I can't tap on the screen anymore... What could be the problem?

I have a 16ft usb extension cable in addition to the 4 ft that goes out of the touch screen already. I thought this might be the problem. Do i need a shorter cable becaus it's underpowered or something?

It's a super branded touch screen. Running off a shuttle.
