Question isa touchscreen controller

Hello...
I bought a 10.4" LCD monitor & I would like to install an ELO touchscreen.
The one I have does not come with a controller - I checked ELO's site & saw the install manual & it shows installing an internal (inside the monitor - not PC) controller.

I have seen ISA controller cards for sale on ebay & was wondering if this will take the place of the "inside-the-monitor" one shown in the instructions.
I figured that if the ISA card replaces the one in the monitor - I could avoid possibly messing up my electronics from having to tap in to the power.

Anyone who has installed one of these that might want to provide some tip - please let me know.

thanks
Mike

i know that elo does sell internal card...
but i have no clue what you need for your particular screen. the best thing to do would be to email them and ask what cards will work with your particular screen. also, if you want to post some more details pertaining to the model of the screen you have, perhaps someone here will know what to use for it. if you find out what elo control card you need to use, there are always people here that can recommend a suitable replacement, and they are usually cheaper then the direct purchase from the manufacturer.

best of luck

Well, I hope this helps...

Well, it's been a few years (and 2 kids) since I've integrated touchscreens (ELO & Microtouch) onto monitors, but from what I remember:
The only connections needed inside the monitor (other than the connection cable from the controller to the touchscreen itself, which would be required no matter which route you take), are needed for a power tap.
I just used to find a 15 volt point, install a 7812 (a cheap'n'dirty 12-volt power regulator), and use the 12 volts to power the controller/touchscreen combo.

From the controller card ran a serial cable to the serial port on the PC.

That's all my 35-year-old brain can recall right now... hope it helps.
