i have been given an inverter from inside a 5inch psone screen, the end plugs into the cable that comes out of the 8.4inch screen i have,

i dont have this screen up and running, but is there a way to check if this inverter works? it has a red wire and a black wire coming off it, im wondering if a run 5v through it will it light up the backlight?

and if not, how can i check it?
