Dynamix's "LinITX" displays are a figment of your imagination

Dynamix has GOT to be the most disorganized, misinformed company that I've ever tried to deal with. I'm on a quest for the 8" LinITX/TView/Dynamix/MP3Car/'whatever the hell brand you want to give it' 800x600 4:3 display. A couple of weeks ago, I discover that they have the 8" 4:3 display in stock.

If you look at the specs on the Website, it says the 4:3 has a native of 800x480 (it appears that somebody just copied/pasted the specs for the 7" 16:9). I called Dynamix and confirmed that, yes, the website was just wrong and t he 4:3 is indeed 800x600. So, I placed an order on their web site. I got an e-mail with my order number and a note saying that I'd receive a notification when my order had shipped. Three days go by and no e-mail. So, I called them. The guy on the phone tells me that they're out of stock and that I should have received an e-mail saying so. He tells me that it'll be another week and a half before they get any more in. Fine, so the website is wrong (it still had them listed as "in stock" and "800x480") and they didn't send the e-mail. I cancel the order and decide to go with MP3Car.

A week goes by. After I discovered that MP3Car wouldn't have the new ones with auto-on for another three weeks, and unable to find any other vender of these things in the States, I decided to replace my order with Dynamix and wait. A quick check of their web site was a waste of time. It still hadn't been either updated or corrected.

So, I called them again this morning. The guy I talk to this time tells me that the order will be in earlier than expected, probably Tuesday or Wednesday. So, I order one over the phone and ask him to e-mail me an order number so I can pay via paypal.

Six hours later, no e-mail.

So, I just called back again to see if I could get my order number so that I could PAY them. This time, I get a lady who tells me that the order is coming in at the end of the week but they're all already sold. They won't have any more in for another five weeks! She had apparently "just been told", and this is why no one bothered to send me an order number or make any effort to tell me.

I then ask her if she could give me the name of the original Chinese manufacturer (it's tough to search for something that's branded differently by every company) so I could track the darn thing down somewhere else.

She tells me that those monitors are made by Dynamix and aren't available anywhere else. A quick click on MP3car.com's "Store" link or going to LinITX.com and finding the EXACT SAME DISPLAY can dispell that lie pretty quickly.

So apparently they never update their website, don't know how to send e-mails, don't have any idea what they have in stock, and have no clue about their merchandise. Are these people totally clueless?!

Gah! I give up!
