Problem with LinITX 7" TFT

Hello all,

i have a linITX 7" TFT and when i boot the pc and push the power button on the screen to switch to VGA mode the screen shows the pc for about 1 second and then switches off. but if i start the car then the screen stays on...

does anyone know if the screen has some sort of low voltage shut off?

is there a fix for this problem?

thanks ppl

no idea. this is an odd one. Could certainly be a voltage issue. try putting a meter accross the power lines to see what voltage you are getting. your battery could be struggling or you could be getting a voltage drop somewhere in the run to the screen. How are you conencting it to the battery?

I have a linITX screen and this happens to me every now and then. It only happens every two or three months or so. For me all i have to do is cut all power to the screen and then re-apply power and it turns on fine. I have never pinpointed the cause, but since it happens so infrequently I didn't look very hard either.

thanks for the replies,

i have a set of switches that have a constant 12v supply and a 12v supply that comes on with the ignition. when i switch something on like the PS2 etc the double pole switches send power from either the 12v constant or the 12v acc to the screen and the device that i want to switch on.

so the screen isn't always connected in the same way each time.

i'm thinking its a voltage drop because the amps are on and the pc as well as the screen and the HU, i'm just wondering if anyone has had to use a capacitor or a voltage stabiliser to keep things running?

i'm upgrading to an Optima battery later on and the one i have at the mo is pretty pants, if i leave the headlights on for a few minutes then the car won't start.

still the screen shouldn't need too much power should it? like i said it does switch on for a second but it's as if it doesn't detect the pc signal and switches off. its never happend when the engine is running....

I doubt a cap will work.

the other thing is that when the screen is switching itself off there is still plenty of power in the battery to crank the engine.
