blinking screen on dww-700m

hello,
i have the motorised in-dash screen (dww-700m)

because the housing on this unit is crap and falls apart, i wanted to make it in a screen i could attach externally.

i took apart the whole unit (housing, motors screen, etc.)

but now there is something wrong...when i start it up, the screen start flickering constantly while being on (white background)...also the 6 blue leds on the top of the screen flicker at the same speed.

i suppose this means a short somewhere...

anybody have any ideas, before i trow it in the trash

What part about it fell apart?
I have had this thing in pieces, and could probably talk you through reassembly if it is not fried.

It is a very primitive roughly finished devise, but it seems to be working great for me minus the angle controller.

what part isn't in pieces

thanx for the invite, but i don't want it back together....anyway, i have put it back together and the problem remains the same...still white screen...so it is not a question of being apart or put back together

What about the operation makes you think it is the ribbon cable?
Is it split or creased?
Is there any way you can jumper the cable just to be sure?
Or run a voltammeter to check for continuity.

If you cant physically see damage it is more likely the input connector for the ribbon cable I would think.

Count the number of pins, and width, then track down a local electronics supply house, and I am sure they can find something suitable since it is just strait.

As an aside, does anyone know a company that deals with all kinds of ribbon cables, so you could order different configurations elbows bends converters from one size to another etc.
