Where would you mount lcd in a dodge ram?
Heres my dillema. I dont want to modify the dash much. So i have a 1.5 din opening there. I still need to place a slot load dvdrw drive, and a center channel speaker. Both of these items would fit nicely in the 1.5 din location. a 7" xenarc touchscreen would also fit there nicely with some modification.
What would you do, and where would you place the items? To keep the sound stage somewhat normal, im probably going to place the center channel speaker and dvd player in the dash 1.5 din opening.. so where does that leave the LCD to mount?
I dont want to get rid of my over head trip computer.|
its a 5spd manual so it could be difficult to fit it under the dash in the pocket and pullout on rails... but thats the only other place i can think of?
ideas?

my next best would be a roof mount 10-15" on the flip down middle seet with inverted image... but that could get in teh way of the shifter.

dodges are probably the hardest to do that ive come across. trust me i know i have a durango. all those options you have leaves you very few options on what to do with the lcd. heh isnt that ironic. if you dont have an lcd already id advise you to get an indash flip up one. its the easiest way to go if you dont want to modify the dash much. as for the dvd drive if you go with a single din flip up monitor theres a little space below it since you have a 1.5 din opening. im pretty sure you can fit a slim slot load in there. i havent tried it but on my durango it looks like theres enough room

Yes, but its a manual so the big door where you have your cupholders is a "dash pocket".. like this one i snagged off ebay:
Theres always the option of cutting out the back of the dash pocket for the center speaker to be mounted there, with an indash lcd and slim slot load dvd in regular stereo area? Center speaker will be a little low, but its not a 'competition' install so as long as its in the center of vehicle im fine...
SBS05DC is the center channel i will be using:

Have not bought either center chan. or LCD yet. I was looking at the 700IDT but It looks like they discontinued those, and i remember alot of stories of them cracking.

i dont know the size of that opening but with a little fabbing im sure it can be done. shouldnt be that hard to do.
yea im pretty sure going with an indash lcd is still your best bet. i just measured where my aftermarket stereo is and where i have that little spot below it and with just cutting out the back of that little pocket thing for the cables a slot load dvdrw will fit.

Ok, decided upon indash.
Whats a good one? I used to like the Xenarc 700IDT but ive heard tons of horror stories bout them cracking, and xenarc no longer sells them????
want good resolution too (over 800x600), and good brightness.
Any recommendations?
