Hello everyone, I have been skulking around unregistered for some time now and have answers to most of my questions. I am most impressed by all of the builds which have been explained in so much detail.

One of my biggest unanswered questions is what is the current state of the art to mount a 7" (I think this is the largest that will fit?) touchscreen into an E46 318? I have already ordered the trim from the local BMW dealership to move the climate controls down.

I have obviously seen many builds which have been documented photographically and which were done over the last three years but it has been difficult for me to judge which is the newest and has the consensus from the rest of the experts of being the easiest/most cost effective/best.

$250 as asked by mybimmer.net seems to be a bit excessive (no offense intended) when compared to the cost of part I ordered from BMW to relocate the climate controls (less than £30). I am willing to do a bit of work with glue/epoxy/cutting tools as long as the end result looks OEM and the process is well-documented.

Can someone please point me to a thread which details in your opinion the best *current* way to make or buy and fit the touchscreen? (I know that there are many good ways but what is the newest and best manner)

If this question has already been asked recently I would really appreciate it if you would then just point me to that thread instead.
