Nameeri, there shouldn't be any confusion because when this tread was started we had a goal (make ower lcd sunlight readable). you already have yours so you don't worry. we worry because we still haven't done it. I think this thead was started for everyone to share the information they have for making lcd daylight readable.

this thread was started by nameeri, it is titled as a review for the upgrade that he had done & it is for the most part his thread.... no one is saying there can be no alternatives to the upgrade performed by fpd, but you really should either start your own thread or add to some of the other generic backlight threads.... to get testy & challenge him here is just wrong... this is his review of his upgrade

thanks turbocad

and as I stated earlier, I dont want there to be any confusion over what you are offering and what MP3Car/FPD are doing. My screen is representative of what you will be able to get from the store.

alright thanks guys, I don't want to redirect your tread. I thought the idea of this thead was more about sharing information on getting ower lcd to readable during daylight, I have been following this tread since it was started. my mistake, and again you guys already have yours done but there are some othes guys that don't and not everyone is interested in 7" lcd. also who knows how long will take mp3store to have larger lcd.

start a thread, title it "transflective upgrade, an alternative?" & you'll have plenty of people talk to you about it no problem

Zip-Lock/Nameeri/Nmbenson:

Is there a way we could make another sticky or any other way to make it quick and dirty for me to know as soon as the transflectives hit the store? I am going to get one, I am just waiting on them to be available. I am sure there are others that want to be at the front of the line to buy as well. Any suggestions?

ok, I have a question that is what I would check if I had one of these in front of me......

in the brightest sunlight & with it directly on the screen, if you unplgged the ccfl backlight,or even turned it all the way down, would you still see the image about the same? or would it need to be turned up to see it?

it needs to be turned up to see it. But I used to have the backlight set to 99% all the time on the xenarc before the enhancement, I now have it set to about 90% along with the brightness set to 75%. I leave it at that for day or night use, although at night its a little too bright, but oh well. But when the backlight brightness is turned down past 50% the picture becomes too dim to see. So you still need the backlight of the lcd.

I wonder how difficult it would be to wire up the brightness controls so when you have your headlights off its ~95% and when they are on its ~80% like stock navigation systems.

now that im using streetdeck, its actually pretty easy to turn the brightness down. I just gesture a U and it goes into night mode. Really very handy as it cuts out a lot of light. Doesnt affect the monitors brightness, just makes the skin darker, kinda like GammaControl but better.

There really is no reason why manufacturers couldnt put a photosesitive element and make it autodim. But that is just myself thinking out loud.

Wow! these screens are amazing. IMHO it's worth every dollar you pay for it.
Here are two pictures that show how little light is reflected by the touch panel. I have also the transflective panel inside the lilliput housing and it works great.
