Does it simply no longer fit in the Lilliput 629 housing? Any leads on a housing (other than completely custom) that will work on this?
I currently don't have room for an in-dash display. Right now, I just have a Xenarc (in its housing) mounted on the center dash area in my G35.

All the parts fit back in the housing, however the toushcreen doesn't line up correctnly and causes the housing to press againist the toushcreen which causes the curser to go crazy beucase it thinks you're touching it there. We've tried to make it work but it just won't work, so that's why it's being sold as an open frame kit.

Not now, it's too early to speculate on this.

Is it possible to get the screen housing with my order even though it doesn't fit? At least I'd have something to work with.

Noooooooooooo! I've been anxiously waiting for this new screen to pull the trigger on my latest rebuild (going Core Duo). I was kind of couning on it to slide right into the factory Lilliput bezel.
Oh well, guess it's time to fab up a new screen mounting. Any word on the required bezel dimensions? would it be possible to simply trim the stock bezel to increase the width/height of the opening?

Crap.. it won't fit my already fabricated bezel (if the Xenarc sizes above are correct...)
and it is almost $700 US!!!!!! How in the hell is anyone supposed to be able to afford that!?!?!?
I guess I will just throw out the project that I am already in $800 for (all of it being my Xenarc screen and fab work on the bezel...)

hrmmm - while I understand that the TS part of this screen requires a clean room to make, and that there aren't that many of these being sold/made yet...
I can get the Lilliput 626 for under $250...so this is essentially a $500 upgrade?
And it's on the Lilliput? Which has been known to have issues in quality for quite some time.
hrmm, I'm going to be waiting for a Xenarc.

Yes, just note that you would like the orginal housing in your order comments on the final checkout page.

It won't fit exactly, it's actually a slightly smaller panel. I just used lots of hot glue as filler to make mine fit in the video you saw

The touchscreen is only part of project.

I posted my comments on this that here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...9&postcount=87
Keep in mind that I deal with RMAs on a daily basis and therefore would have a better prospective of what monitors are better then others

Excellent. I placed the order last night, but sent a separate email requesting the housing be included. Hope that's sufficient. :-)

very well then.
I guess maybe if I had a better understanding of what went into this project I would have a better understanding of the additional $500 price tag.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way.
Can you please tell us (I understand you can't go into great detail) what has caused the $500 premium?

Also, do we have a rough ETA on an 8" option?
