whoa My entire setup with the car cost about $2800.00. This would be 1/4 of my total project cost. Would bump my total project cost to about $3300.00.
Raise your hand if you wanna drop that on a car computer setup.
Sorry for the hard criticism but I was just a little surprised

i feel the same way but you have to understand that 'new' technology has a premium. since there are very few manufacturers you have to deal with this type of pricing.

Yes the Touchscreen comes unattached as shown in the picture of the kit. The touchscreen measures 103x165 mm.

I added pictures of the LCD panel size to the store description

Excellent diagram, thanks! Do you happen to know the dimensions of the active area of the touch screen? Presumably this should fall within the B-zone, right?

Good question. I don't know, but I've asked. I'll post when I get an answer.

I don't want to use hot glue, and it will be a pain to re-size and match the finish on my bezel.

As to the cost of the units, has anyone thought of approaching Xenarc or Lilliput directly to inform them of the benifit of this mod and hopefully have a regular production model at a fraction of the cost? Most of us enthusiasts are not loaded here...

Oh.. one more thing for Canadian customers: will mp3car.com be offering an alternitave to UPS? When I imported my $289 xenarc screen, it ended up being close to $500 CAD after shipping, UPS brokerage charges and tax... I hate to think what this one would cost.

UPS Standard to Canada is what charges the high broker fees. Using UPS Expedited or Express usually ends up being cheaper in the end for the customer because there is no broker fee for those "air" packages. Alternatively, we also offer United States Postal Service shipping which hands off to the Canadian post who charges much less of a broker fee. The buyer still might have to pay customs duties either way.

The smudges are just fingerprints. I should have cleaned the screen before snapping a photo.

Also we are a bit ahead of schedule and hope to start shipping out pre-orders tomorrow.

I was just browsing around ebay when I came upon an auction for a custom bezel with a Xenarc 700TSV. I thought I've seen this somewhere before! :-D

The new transreflective screen looks friggin sweet! Notice how the sun is directly on it and it still looks 10x better than the Xenarc (pictured above) with just ambient light on it? Can't wait to get mine! :-D

Also just noticed that it's your car on the main page! You'll have to update that pic now that you have the new transreflective display. :-)

That's actually not my car on the main mp3car home page. The first picture you showed is mine, but not the second one. Yes, you are right the main pic on the home page should be updated.

Oh wow...you're right. Upon closer inspection, the car in the pic on the home page has different instrument buttons above the screen. My bad. :-D

The pre-orders are shipping today. We have a few left in stock now available for immediate shipment. Anyone missing this batch will have to wait about four weeks for the next one.
