We’ll be offering an assembled version of the monitor immediately, just put in your order comments that you request that the monitor be assembled and we’ll do it for no additional charge.

Doh! Too bad mine's already in the mail. :-) Is it pretty straightforward to assemble it the way you described? Are there any simple instructions included with the kit? Any chance you could provide some pics if it's not a straightforward process? ;-o

you can buy a screen without the touch screen in the store right now. They are usually brighter because they don't have the touch screen over lay on them.

Is there any difference between this screen and the liliput screen in terms of the ability of windows to drive it at 800x480? This seems to be an unsolved problem.

One suggestion - add some sort of mounting point around the metal housing of the panel (similar to a laptop LCD mount) so that the screen can be held from behind without anything needing to touch the front.

The screen has no problem displaying 800x480. Usually the problems revolve around getting compatible video chipsets and correct video drivers that will send that resolution.

I got my screen yesterday. It wasn't too hard to put together...though it was tricky to keep the touchscreen from touching the housing (even when not tightening the screws holding down the LCD).

Regardless, once I got it installed in my car, I was MORE than impressed. The difference between the transreflective screen and my old Xenarc 700TSV is like night and day. With the Xenarc, if there was even a hint of sun or light entering the car, the screen was completely washed out. With the new screen, I have yet to run into a situation where the screen is even a little washed out!

As of now, I am 110% happy with the upgrade and think it was MORE than worth the cost. Those of you who are on the fence, I urge you to go for it! :-)

Wow, great to here this screen is actually the real deal!

Anyone know even how to go about doing the mod yourself? I wonder if it requires expensive machinery or something...

I'm in Europe and the screen has not arrived yet it's still in transit. These transport companies should be working on weekends too because it has been held saturday and sunday somewhere around deutschland and they can't do that to anxious people like me! I'll post direct comparison shots when it arrives.

In which store?
But not at

I mean not an usually Display, I want the VGA transflective (sunlight readable) monitor w/o Touchscreen.
Usually screens are also not readable in sunlight.

Is the price on this likely to come down at some point?

I probably don't need to buy a monitor for at least a couple of months, and I'm having difficulty justifying such a huge price difference compared to a basic Xenarc 700TSV.
