As for the BL (backlight) inverter part, I don't think anyone around here knows exactly how that works. There is a thread in the LCD section that has been revived, http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...&threadid=5407 , and does have a little info on the pins.
Let me know if you find anything.

Loads of ideas.

Its simple really...
THere are 5 pins.
two 5v (even though one is around 4.6v)
one 10v
one ground
and one control
I got it working with my LQ9D023 screen that came with the standard backlight inverter.
however the inverter need somthing like 6-7v to operate.
I tried using the 5v rail but it was too bark tried the 10v rail and nearly burned the inverter...
around 7 volt makes it perfect.
I can adjust the brightness and everything...

Not bad. Do you know if that is the order of the pins as well?

I sure can ...
From memory its goes like this
======= Edit =======
Pins:
1 GND
2 10V
3 4.96v (5v)
4 Control
5 4.47v
==================
Looking from the PCD (non component side).
THis is from the memory, when i get home I'll have a look at the pin numbering and will let you know exactly.
The control voltage goes from 0v to +5v
Note: I found that the standard Inverter that comes with the LQ9D023/LQ9D02C doesn't work with any of those voltages. THe control is ok but the running voltage is not in the range.
I suspect that the inverter requires around 6-7v to operate.
The voltages from the controller are either too high 10v or too low 5V.
