I deleted the other thread....
I'm guessing that there is a connection loose on the LCD panel. I have no way to even fathom a way to fix something like that without pulling the headunit out and opening it up, thus voiding warranty.
If the car is under warranty from the dealer or manufacturer, then take it there. It still might cost some bucks.
If it's that big a deal and you don't want to/can't afford to/can't justify repair the headunit, then a replacement shouldn't be too expensive.

Hmmm, display returns to normal when finger pressure applied??? I have the same unit in my 02 Protege' and do not have this problem. I believe it's a complete 2DIN unit.

We had the same problem with our display but just lived with it for a while (1 year?). Then a strange thing happened last week - the display started working ok but the radio stopped producing noise of any kind. The radio and CD and clock all apear to be functioning, except that we get no music. Odd that the display would start working right when the music quit - anyone have any ideas?
thanks

Truly strange indeed. No answers here. Hmmm, good time for a new HU.
