Attention LCD Gurus

OK as some of you know I've been playing around with my frigging SBC LMB586-VH (see photo ) and also my frigging LCD NEC NL644AC30-60 (again see pic) Now I've finally found out the pin wirings for the main connectors (see this thread for info on connectors )

Now from the following 2 data sheets (click here for sheet 1 ) (and click here for sheet 2 ) (I've also typed up the pin wiring for the SBC's connector to make life easier see here )I've come up with an interface (click here to see interface )

Now could someone tell me if they think it'll work or not, and offer suggestions either way.

I'm still looking for the connectors, any help here would be great.

Lastly for the connector on the SBC would it be possible to use a laptop harddrive connector for pins 1-42 an not bother with pins 43 & 44 since they are the same as pins 5 & 6. Obviosly I'll have to remove the plastic lug used for alignment first, but otherwise would it work?

Any info and help would be great as I'm at my wits end with the frigging thing.

Rob

PS sorry about all the links, but it was the only way I could stop the thread from taking up several pages.

Laptop drives definately have 44pins if its standard 2.5" ide. If thee are pins left over when you align the plug with the header it must contain more than 44 pins or the pins are not spaced the same, which if thats the case its not going to fit.

If, on the other hand, it does fit and and you wire up the other end correctly there is no reason why it shouldnt work.

Looks good to me.

Find yourself some connectors, and wire that thing up!

Cheers, I'll give it a go (who knows if it'll actually work), just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some thing blatant which I'd missed.

Rob

PS you don't have any info on the LCD do you?

Hold on a sec rob, are you sure that PDF is for your SBC? I have the SBC-555 and it uses the CHIPS 65554, yours has the CHIPS 65550 onboard! Does this make a difference? I have not been able to get my sbc to fire up a sharp LCD that I have yet, good luck!

Nope, the pdf is not for my SBC, but I recon the pin wiring for the 44pin LCD connector is going to be the same as most SBCs seem to have them. There's alot of guess work going on here, but I've spent days researching this, & guessing seems to be my best(only) option.

The only info I have on the lcd is the pinouts, which you seem to have already found.

One problem, the LCD connector on the SBC-555 has 50 pins, not 44! Do you have a model number on your board? I will help you look for a manual...
