UV film

i found this supplier for UV filter film. i have heard that LCD displays are prone to UV damage, i figure $12 for a small sheet isnt to bad if you want to cover the screen.

This isn't really necessary, as a regular piece of glass will block out 95% of the Sun's UV rays, and even window screen will block out about 30% of it. But I suppose if you're looking to block the 99-100% like the product claims then you need this

I've also had a hard time believing UV rays damage TFT and LCD screens in general. I've never read of such a warning like "DO NOT PLACE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT" with any LCD monitor I've ever seen or owned.

the one thing that i can think of is that the colors will fade... not because of the sunlight washing out the screen... but rather like paint fading on an old car... thats the only thing i can think of, whether it is right or not, i cant say!

edit: i also think it might lead to "yellowing" of the screen material...
