inverter question

my inverter has a 5 pin plug on it for power.

The data sheet says this:
Pin No. Symbol Function Pin No. Symbol Function
1 VDDB Power supply
2 VDDB Power supply
3 GNDB Backlight ground
4 GNDB Backlight ground
5 BRTHL Luminance selectNote

Notes 1. VCC: All VCC terminals should be connected to 3.3 V or 5.0 V.

So I jsut plug a 5volt source into pins One and Two and ground three and four and im good to go right?

Anyone know what I do with pin five?

date sheet says this about it but I dont follow

Heres the full data sheet if it helps http://www.ic.nec.co.jp/compo/lcd/en...f/en0439ej.pdf
Note High luminance (100%): BRTHL = High or open
Low luminance (60%): BRTHL = Low (GNDB level)
