Question 10,4" LCD - is this one good 4 carpc?

Hello

- a friend gave me a LCD screen a Sharp LM64c35p.

After what i found on the net its a 10,4" LCD with 640x480 of resolution and 256 colors .
Is this LCD good for Carpc ??( to watch TV / movies )?
I know that I cannot easyly connect for example to Svideo ( would be too cool
So is there any cheap controller 4 it ? only found 1 for 299$ which is tooooo much for me

Here some pics of connector ( by reading this board i saw that its important )

Thanks very much

Felix

256 Colors + Video =

Seeing as how some people complain about the DennisK screen's color (which I think is 12 bit), I think you'll probably be dissapointed with video quality. Before investing, I'd also check the brightness level (nits) of the display...

don't even try to watching a video on a 256 color screen. Here's a test you can do.. Set your desktop to 256 colot and watch a divx or a dvd.. You'll probably laugh

Nope, you're not missing anything. The lcd is though, that would be a controller. The screens themselves aren't expensive. The controller that makes it possible to actually use the lcd is the expensive part. Check out earthlcd.com for an idea of the prices.

You can find the controller in TSOUBIS and on Dr. Berghaus either one will cost you at least 200€.

200€ = tooo much 4 me -
I think I'll save a bit money the next years
And when I have enough of it I would better spend it on
a 17" TFT for my home PC and put the 15" TFT in my next Car
