Desing blue prints for LCD console needed

Hey guys,

well i just wanted to check with everybody, if there are any designs floating around for what i want.

I have a dash mount LCD 7" panel. I want to fabricate something that i can fold up and hide away when i leave my car. I dont live in a safe city hahaha...

please help with some expert opinions other than saying please move to another city

No really though, do you mean fold in like an in-dash unit that then looks like a regular 1 din radio, or do you mean some sort of folding flap that covers your screen and makes it look like something completely different?

well can you give me both options if you have ideas... I would like to consider both. But i like what the first options sounds

Well the first "option" is just making your regular 7" screen into a casing like the motorized flip out ones. It looks like a radio and then when on, it slides out, swivels, and flips up. And voila, screen.

Yeah thats a great Idea. I need fabrication designs on how to make it slide out, swivel and hold it upright and stay there as long as i want

Just a quick question... why didn't you just buy a motorized screen to begin with? Only a couple bucks more, and this is already built in. You could probably even sell your current screen on here, and take a little hit, but buy the new one.

well i guess the price was too much for me....the exchange rates can be killing...

i picked up mine for 195 USD and the motorized one was 399 USD.

well, I remember a couple posts (1 as recent as within the week) where someone was building a silding mechanism. Not motorized yet, but was on his to do list.

It is going to be very tricky. Easier to just sell yours screen and buy one already like that if you want to go that way. Your time and part/fabrication money will greatly exceed the $200 extra to get the pre-flipout screen.
