Question about Lilliput screen

Hey there,

I just got done installing a lilliput 7in touch screen to a EVO mobile workstation which is powered by a 350 watt unsure of the Amps inverter. Now when I power the screen up, the screen gets lines through it. Exact same as when you are watching TV and see a computer screen with lines running throught it. The lines are slow moving and annoying. Now. I was powering the monitor with the same 12 volt wire that is running to the inverter. After I noticed the lines. I took and made a new 12v wire for the monitor from the battery. Now, the ground is still hooked up to the one that is running to the inverter. The inverter is hooked directly to the battery. Now, I'm wondering as I think about it, should I make a new ground for the monitor also?? Is there a problem with the inverter not pushing out enough power for the video card (just an thought). I also heard about breaking the ground prong off of the plug on the inverter.

The serial (VGA) cable running from the lilliput to the computer doesn't have a filter on it. (Again another thought). Doesn't change if the car is running either. I hooked up an extension cord to the computer to test it and it works fine with no lines going through the monitor.

What is causing my monitor to do this and what are some possible fixes? I was going to start the process of eliminaton, but for one that gets expensive and a pain in the ***.

it kinda sounds like you do have a grounding issue, i think its the same as if you were hearing alternator noise through your speakers. I would try to ground it to a seperate grounding point other than your inverter. if that doesnt work then a ground loop isolator might work.

Well. I upgraded the inverter from a 350watt to a 400 with 800 peak. It cleaned up the lines, but I can notice waves going through the screen and the screen is slighlty distorted which makes it hard to read. Should I still try a ground loop isolator thing?

Calibration has absolutely nothing to do with this problem. Calibration is only for the touchscreen.

sometimes my 19" monitor in the house has the same waves going through it when i have the resolution set too high, try setting it to a lower resolution.

Mine does the EXACT same thing. For some reason after some time it fixes itself(Like 30 minutes[I have it running in the house]) I'm pretty sure it have to do with refresh rates but I can't edit then yet
