7" with height restrictions

Hello all,

This is my first post to this forum.

I am working on a project to make a Car Mac as it were and am trying to decide on which display I should order. My most important constraint is the height of the display. Some fabrication in order to get the display to fit in the available space will be necessary at any rate, but even so the vertical space I have at my disposal is a mere 115 mm.

I also would really, really like to have a display that can do 800x480 without pixel stretching - I have a no-name 7" touchscreen as a loan from a local PC supplier and that one can at best take 800x480 with a 640x480 timing meaning that the 800 pixels get downsampled to 640.

By browsing this forum I have so far found:

* Xenarc 700TSV - does 800x480 but looking at pictures from the innards of the display indicates that the controller PCB is quite tall.

* Lilliput 619/629 - questionable of it does 800x480 in a correct way (I hope I'm wrong about this), but has separate PCBs for buttons and the controller PCB is not bigger than the actual panel which is great for my project.

So, does anyone here have a good recommendation on another monitor that meets these criteria? Or does the lilliput actually cope with 800x480 without downsampling? Can the controller PCB of the Xenarc maybe be rotated (vertical plane) or folded out to reduce height (I have loads of space behind the display)?

Cheers,

/Erik
