you think so? have you priced the film that is used?
I have, and I can tell you that given the number of different films that can be used together, and that 3m has a moq, you will not diy for less. In fact, based on the moq, you will need to spend over 3k just to have all of the films needed to do a tf and ar upgrade on that panel to the fullest.
of course I base this on using the vikuiti films from 3m. I am assuming that the monitors in the mp3car store were sent out and upgraded using said films.

basically, the main differences are, besides the obvious size is the resolution.
The 7" is native 800x480, the 8" is 800x600. Both use a 6 bit TTL panel, both have stock brightness in the 350-400nit neighborhood (depending on who's website/spec sheets you look at) and both have the same cheap touch screen.
The average price difference between the 2 is about 20.00. This would be through regular online retailers or ebay sellers.
I guess mp3car is keeping the price difference comparable to that.
The actual cost to upgrade either one shoud be close if not the same.
shoot me a pm with your email and I will give you a little more info.

I think the 8 inch Lilliput 809 model has a native resolution of 640x480, not 800x600.

eh, so I fell for anotehr fleabayer's "accurate description"
Lilliput's website page for the 809 lists resolutions (scaled) to 1024x768, with 640x480 as what appears to be native.
http://www.lilliputweb.net/ts809.html
thanks for clearing that up, noob.

Anyone know the actual screen dimensions of the 809? The only thing on Lilliput's 'website' are 205mmW x 167mmH x41mmD which I assume are the case dimensions. Incidentally, MP3Car.com store lists different case dimensions - 204mmW x 162mmH x 39mmD. It lists the screen dimensions as 186mmW x 141mmH x 14mmD. Does anyone know if this is accurate? You'd think it would be, but given the discrepancy on the case dimensions (5mm on the H which isn't insignificant), who knows. You'd think Lillput's case numbers would be the most accurate.
TIA,
Vaughn
