Cable Issues

I was wondering if anybody knew of a cable that converted S-Video into standard RCA connectors. Or if there was a cable that converted VGA to RCA.

Reason I'm asking is because I've got a monitor that accepts RCA, and I would like to hook it up to my CarPC, whether by going off the VGA on my graphics card, or the S-Video out on the card.

Thanks.

EDIT:

If that's not possible, could I use something like this to go from S-Video to RGB connectors. Then use this to get to VGA?

I hate to use so many adapters, but it would save a lot of money.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just researching and can't find a straight answer.

Would this work? To go VGA in, then composite out? And is the yellow composite out on this device the same as the yellow cable in standard RCA cabling?

looks like you are correct. Go from SVIDEO to COMPONENT and then COMPONENT to VGA.

The least expensive ways will be to stick w/ cables rather then the converter box you have listed last

Well, way I look at it, I bought a 10.4" touchscreen glass and controller for ~$60.00. Spend another $150.00-200.00 on an overhead non-touchscreen monitor, then spend $50.00 on that box. Then I've got an over head touchscreen for roughly the same as it cost me for an 8".

Firstly, what video card do you have? If you have an ATI (or some nVidia) you can use this: http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2538012

You do not need COMPONENT anything, you're talking about COMPOSITE video, usually signified by the yellow plug.

The cheapest and easiest thing to do is get an Svideo to COMPOSITE cable / adapter. There is no box needed for this connection, it's a simple combining of signals. Radio Shack used to have a universal SVideo to composite adapter but I can't seem to find it on their site.

This is more universal: http://www.nextag.com/Startech-6-IN-...49B8E7FEC57E2D

Ya I realized that about 10 minutes ago.

So my friend, who is studying to be an EE, is going to rig me up an adapter similar to the ATI one you showed, for about $5.
