The back of the monitor is not very helpful as it only states input DC 10-36 volts 1 amp. If I were to use this info, I should be able to connect to the vehicle power and maybe add an in line fuse for insurance (making sure the polarity is correct of course!).
I know most seem to connect the power to the psu, but I would prefer to use vehicle power switched with the key if posssible. I'm using an inverter to power the carputer right now (yeah kinda ghetto) so I don't have the added luxury of a shutdown controller to handle the screen with the puter. Maybe I'll spring for one in the future.
Advice, opinions?
Cheers

The Xenarc will turn on/off automatically when the input signal is detected. You can power it to a fused 12V and let it decide when to turn on. The lighter plug is just a connector, you don't need to replace it. As someone already said, be sure the polarity is correct.
