Shielded or non shielded VGA cable?

I had a look through this section already, couldn't really find anything about this.
Basically, I'll be running an in-dash motorized VGA, and the PC will be in the boot (or trunk ).

My question is, do I need to use one of the thick VGA cables, the ones that tend to have the ferrite cores at either end, or can I just use one of the thinner extension cables.

Obviously it would be much easier to route a thin one through the car, but I just want to know if it's likely to induce interference?

Thanks

if at all possible run a shielded cable.. it will save you headaches down the road when you are trying to eliminate the interference on the display

I use a cheap Belkin 6 foot cable from my in dash and getting a little static. I would go for a shielded one.

Definately use shielded if you have the room. If you don't have any room, then a non-shielded one that is run apart from powerful signals should suffice.

Thanks fellas

Ordered a shielded one, shall see how I go running it through the car. Shouldn't be a problem as it'll be going under the carpet, not through the channels at the side which are fairly tight.
