I have one unit on my desk , I'm going to install it the week after next week Can't wait for it, virtual in CAD it's finished...

I haven't seen any other 7" TFT so for me it's hard to compare...

But since I have it, I think there is no need of brightness increase without contrast increase...
Maybe it's different in the car under direct sunlight... but in my room, when I set the brightness over 50% black becomes grey...
So I set brightness to 60% and have probably the same screen with 400mc/m² as all the others, which cost 100$ less.

But lets see how it performs in the car, it has still the special film on the tft for better sunlight readability...

not really contrast ratio is 200:1

Also the auto dimmer is a very nice idea !!, but it adjust the brightness only by about 20% and there is no way to change this...

E.g. when I set brightness to 70%, then its nearly all time 70% and in complete dark about 55% I guess...
But I would like to have 100% for direct sunlight and a linear adjusting down to maybe 30%...

But maybe it's comletely different in the car - we will see

Any news on that TFT, rxh81? Have you installed it? Does it worth it's money?

I wish he would have taken the pictures from the same angle. Instead the TMR based one is always at a worse angle in regards to the light and viewing. I am sure that it wasn't on purpose, but it is still a let down.

Only the last two are close, the rest have the TMR screen turned to the right and the lilliput straight on...

fwiw...i've owned a xenarc and now have a lilli trans....if the trans were to be on the same angle you're saying the other screen is at in the pictures (which is minimal IMO), the display would NOT be any different. the transflective really works. can't see this other one coming close (based on what i see in the pictures).

IT would be different regardless of the transflective TMR stuff. LCDs are different because of their viewable angles when you move your head side to side or when you turn the screen it impacts the image slightly. I am not saying that I think the transflective isn't awesome I have seen the video already where he gets at extreme angles with it etc...

I think the CTF700-H is better than a standard TFT, but not as good as the transflective, as everybody can see on the pics.

Last days there were a lot sunshine, and I can say it wasn't a problem to read the screen, not as bright as I would want it to be, but absolutely useable!

But I have to mention, I also have a special anti reflective film from 3M, which is special designed for Touchscreens (Vikuiti™ ARMR200). And this thing also improves the situation.

What's still open is the quality in dark situations. I could imagine that the standard transmissive TFT looks better in the dark than the transflective??
Any experiences?? Especially the autodimmer makes the quality great in the dark! black is black )

cheers, Roland

Good luck with it. Annoying that all these are for sale in EU and none in the US... otherwise I would have bought one long ago. Now I am content to wait with my current screen, but originally I would have jumped on it like crazy.

I received it today

Until now everything seems to work fine. I have no experience with previous TFT's (it's my first) so i can't compare it. I'll test it tomorrow in the car and see if it looks ok in the sun...
